Thought Drop

IMG_0597

I love reading blogs.  I love reading blogs that share about real life…emotions, gratitude, good times, hard times, mishaps, inspiration, dreams.  Many times I will sit down to write a blog post, type something out, think, “Well that sounds ridiculous”, or “I sound like I’m trying too hard”, and then delete what I have written.  This is the perfectionist in me, and frankly, I’m tired of her.  She brings a ton of insecurity and too much pride.  Not that I think it’s wise to “air your dirty laundry” on a public platform without much prayer and consideration, but I could definitely be more real, more genuine, more humble, and more brave in what I share with others.  Why?

Because God made me to glorify Him.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

…and…

Because something in me could bring someone else closer to Him.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Well, in an effort to keep it real around here, I’d like to share my thoughts more…what I’m learning, what I’m thankful for, what I’m dreaming about, our good times, maybe a few struggles…all in hopes that my honesty will point to the hope that is in Christ.

That’s it for the thought drop today.

PS…No worries, I will definitely continue to post pictures of Little B, his soon-arriving Little Sister, and all their cuteness. 🙂

Faith Dare – Day 23

Dare to quite being critical of others.

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.  They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.  In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women.  Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.  But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.  When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

John 8:3-7

Faith Dare – Day 21

Dare to love well.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God…You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven….If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Faith Dare – Day 20

Dare to speak praise, sing praise, and live with confidence in God.

I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit – not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength – that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in.  And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its lengths! Plump the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me.  Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.  But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Faith Dare – Day 18

Dare to live with a new focus.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Faith Dare – Day 17

Dare to live in the miracle of who you are.

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you

when I was made in the secret place.

When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

your eyes saw my unformed body.

All the days ordained for me

were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:13-16

Faith Dare – Day 16

Dare to choose whom you will serve and the direction you will take.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son.

Romans 8:28-29

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…Do not make light of the Lord’s discipline and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves…Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons…God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.  No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.  “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Faith Dare – Day 15

Dare to believe you are complete in God.

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.  And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else…”For in him we live and move and have our being.” As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.”
